What if someone told you that a simple bath could relieve common skin disorders, alleviate painful aches and swelling, reduce stress, cure insomnia, and make you look and feel younger?
You’d probably take baths more often, right?
The most obvious benefit to taking a long, luxurious bath is stress reduction, but are you aware that is can help alleviate insomnia?A whopping 25% of Americans can’t seem to fall asleep!Insomnia is more than an annoyance; it makes us more susceptible to colds, flus, and more serious conditions – not to mention irritability.
The skin, our largest organ, is often taken for granted. It regulates body temperature, protects us from outside elements and holds everything together. It also reflects poor diets, bad habits and stress, creating fine lines and dry patches on otherwise youthful faces and bodies.
Think about it- what other part of your body goes through as much as your skin does? You scrub it, scratch it, lather it, rinse, and the next day you subject it all over again all for the sake of skin care.
You’re not the only one picking on your skin; weather, sun exposure, pollution, heating, air conditioning and age itself all take their toll on this very valuable yet vulnerable part of your body, depleting it of moisture and vital nutrients.
We lead busy lives and seldom take time to think about our skin.Taking quick, hot showers we wash with harsh soaps and slather on gunky moisturizers that promise to soothe and protect. We may actually be doing more harm than good.Hot showers actually rob our skin of moisture. Many soaps - even those that come in pretty packages - strip away natural oils that keep our skin healthy and moisturized.Moisturizer is a good idea, but not if it’s loaded with harmful chemicals, cheap fillers, animal products and synthetic perfumes.
All of us have had to contend with rashes, sores, hives, itching, and other skin problems. For skin to be healthy, we must take the time to care for it and give it the pampering and attention it needs.
So how can we make sure our skin is getting what it needs?
One solution is to bathe in sea salt, particularly Dead Sea or Himalayan salts. It can do wonders for your skin! These salts contain large amounts of magnesium and bromide, which cleanse and disinfect your skin, making you less susceptible to skin-related allergies. Mineral salts from both the Dead Sea and the Himalayas have been proven to diminish the effects of aging by minimizing fine lines and leaving skin soft and supple with a healthy glow.
We all know that soaking in a pleasantly warm bath makes us feel relaxed and leaves us smelling fresh and clean, but many people may not know how baths with sea salts help restore, renew and detoxify our skin from the inside out.
Seawater is rich in trace minerals that aren’t found in our water at home, including iodine, magnesium, sodium, potassium, fluoride, sulfur and carbonates. These minerals are essential for us and readily absorbed through the skin, which makes a seawater bath an important tool for our overall health. It can replenish vital nutrients and restore moisture.
Seawater is turning the heads of scientists and medical specialist for its vast health benefits and therapeutic properties.Seawater so closely resembles the fluid naturally residing in our bodies that our own white blood cells have been proven to survive in it!This fluid makes up 70% of the human body and performs valuable functions, including flushing toxins from our cells, softening our skin, hydrating and lubricating our organs and systems so they function smoothly.
It makes sense that we are drawn to water when experiencing stress and anxiety.Soaking in a tub full of warm water feels so refreshing at the end of a long day!Now we know there are scientific reasons behind our natural inclination toward water as a healing agent.Since the Middle Ages bathing has been recognized not only as a stress relieving past-time, but as a powerful therapy for a full range of illnesses and conditions.

Read. It can be tricky to read a book or magazine without soaking it, but if you can manage, it’s an enjoyable way to multi-task while still taking a time out from the rest of the world.
Play Music. Listening to some of your favorite tunes while you bathe can help you unwind at the end of your day. If it’s music that you enjoy it’s sure to put you in a better mood.
